Heartlands Hayride-Saturday Night Radio and Webcast

Post by Dave Van Allen »

I will be playing Saturday night 9-30-00, 6pm - 8pm EDT on the radio and the web.

Heartlands Hayride is a new locally (NJ near Princeton) produced LIVE 2 hour weekly show dedicated to entertainment with a "down home" flavour. The acts have been selected from auditioners from the surrounding New Jersey hills, and range from neophytes to seasoned singers, story tellers, etc...

I am in the house band for the first show: A guitarist (quiet and tasteful) a bassist (also tasteful) and me. I will be providing the majority of the fills and solos behind many of the performers on Pedal (the Zum U12) or non Pedal (My Stringmaster 3x8) Steel Guitars.

Should be interesting, and entertaining if only for the voyeuristic "train wreck" possibilities Image

Dave, dude--I had mucho frustration with reception problems--buffering, breaking up, etc. until I just had to ditch on you but what I heard sounded cool. Did the guitarist really tear off a nail? Bummer! You had a real good broadcast sound on the Zum. Which non-pedal were you playing?
Sounded like a fun evening. At least once I heard you dive in, taking it to the bridge (correctly) while the band took it to another verse. Ah, the joys of seat-of-your-pants live radio!

Should be even more fun this weekend- the bass player ain't gonna be there! but we'll have a fiddle...

so the lineup for the house band will be, electric guitar, steel guitar and fiddle. wheee!!!

and some of the singers have some very lushly orchestrated expectations...

the non pedal was the triple neck 8 Fender described above.. in A6, Helms "B13", and a six dobro G tunings.

The output of the Fender wasn't as "hot" as the Zum and I was a little frustrated at the level but an air check sounded OK, ; both were taken direct... I'm monitoring thru my little SF Fender Vibro Champ on "3"

I'll be taking the Bakelite Rick out for a spin this weekend (10-7-00)... I will be playing the ZumSteel U12 for the majority of the show, but the Rick, tuned in C6, will get a feature shot with "Steelin' the Blues" shortly after 7 PM.

life's simple pleasures are the best.
