From what Casey Olsen told me, the earliest Ho'olaulea show was at the Ala Moana Beach Park, and in the early 80's.
All the old timers steel legends were still around then, and they all were featured.
That was like the Super Bowl of Hawaiian Steel Legends. lol.

Truly masterful. I loved the feeling of traditional mastery pushed to the edge of avant garde. So much going on within that performance. I can literally hear him playing the silence between the notes.
